Coronado - The Gingerbread City

Calling all culinary-inclined Coronadans (and everyone who loves Coronado) - time to get those visions of sugar plums, and especially gingerbread, sancing in your heads!

Coronado Lifestyle magazine is conducting a special competition and inviting you to create your favorite city icon, house or anything that says "Coronado" - out of gingerbread.

Not only will the talents of many Coronadans be displayed in the pages of this holiday issue next year, but also Coronado - The Gingerbread City will be shared with our local business community and fellow residents at the Chamber of Commerce's annual Holiday Sundowner, Wednesday evening, December 13 at the Coronado Golf Course.

Your gingerbread entry can be any size, but the primary building material must be made from a gingerbread recipe. Use the following recipe or one of your own for your construction project. Feel free to embellish with candies and nuts and other culinary concoctions. The primary rule is to have fun with it all.

In addition to red, green and white ribbons for first, second and third place, several honorable mentions will be awarded. Prizes include an overnight at the Mansion at Glorietta Bay Inn, tickets to Lamb's Players' Theatre, a Hornblower dinner cruise, dinners for two at Tent City Restaurant and Coronado Brewing COmpany, and gift certificates to Mootime Creamery and Nado Gelato.

Contest entry forms are due by December 8. Completed creations can be submitted up until December 13 at 5pm. Click here for entry form and contest rules, or call (619) 522-0900.
